The Marines and Soldiers will die doing their job, only we the citizens have the power to demand common sense in dealing with Arab Nations.
MAJOR SUPPORT FOR IRAQ WAR AND AFGHANISTAN TROOPS

This last week, the American Military and our Troops in Iraq were given the support of the American citizens who voted to exchange the "stay the course" policy for a new direction in policy to be initiated by newly elected Democrats in Congress and the Senate.

I am proud of the citizens that voted in the mid-term elections (even if only 40% of all eligible voters cast a vote,) because the message had to be sent that we will not tolerate patriotic rhetoric instead of meaningful policies and direction in the war against terror.

The Marines and Soldiers will die doing their job, only we the citizens have the power to demand common sense in dealing with Arab Nations. I know that the Americans my age (baby boomers) spotted the pattern from the Viet Nam Era and said "fool me once shame on you, fool me twice shame on me" to a U.S. administration out of control and without policy.

I firmly doubt that Democrats will fair any better if they intend a Western style Democracy in Iraq no matter how well-planned, it is Iraq's business to provide its own style of leadership and type of Government, not ours.

A GREAT TIME

I dedicated this Veterans Day to the 131 Marines from the four Companies of the 26th Battalion, Fifth Marines, who were Killed in Action defending Khe Sanh Combat Base from 1967-68.

On November 11th, I attended a great Veteran's Day gathering at the "Ensueno del Campo" golf course. Located north of Lo de Marcos and before Guayabitos, it is about a 60 minute drive from the Old Town area of Puerto Vallarta on the highway to Tepic.

I am always surprised by the number of Veterans we have all over the coastal communities in Western Mexico, and this was an introduction to many of the U.S. Veterans who have literally built, by hand and hard work, a great little golf course.

The hospitality that U.S. Veterans and friends can give to one another is outstanding. After the golf tournament, the Veterans served up a great B.B.Q. with all the trimmings. But the best part of spending that special day together was the emotional support for what we all endured many years ago.

One Veteran to another, giving a hug of welcome, or the hand given in brotherhood, understanding and acceptance are shared by those knowing the pains of war - and they bring tremendous relief from being alone.

The golfing community is open, so anyone can join these Veterans every Thursday at 10 am for a round of golf. It is my intention to be there this Thursday in the Purple Heart Veterans Mobile Service R.V. to play some golf and begin the process of claims adjudication for many of these Veterans. I will give more details about my service to this community as I develop their claims and learn their stories.

SATELLITE RADIO

This last week, I drove to Miami, Florida to return a vehicle left in Puerto Vallarta due to a medical emergency (a non-veteran.) I made the delivery in three and a half days, returning their car with the stickers canceled and deposit returned.

I enjoyed being able to provide this service while listening to my portable satellite radio. I took it along for listening to the mid-term elections on various national broadcaster stations. The radio coverage while driving from Puerto Vallarta to Guadalajara is about 80% clear, (in PV, when the radio is stationary, it's great.)

Starting near Guadalajara the signal is clear as a bell in a moving car, all the way to Miami - and what a great difference this makes on the long trip. I drive the route through Zacatecas to Saltio and love having all the news, comedy, music stations at the touch of a finger, when in fact no radio station in Mexico covers any of the desolate northern territories.

During the trips I have taken in Mexico this year, ranging from San Cristobel near Guatemala to Oaxaca Taxco, Acapulco Guerrero and Mexico D.F., I have enjoyed great reception over the entire country on this satellite radio, so I strongly suggest getting a portable satellite radio for your Puerto Vallarta area residence and car.

If you want one, I can help you with the purchase of the radio and transporting it back to this area. Special services are what I do to support my Veteran's services. When you need service in transportation in Mexico or to or from America, I am available and all proceeds go to helping U.S. Veterans in Mexico and Latin America.
