The weekend went to the dogs at the 3rd annual Perrotón Dog Show in Puerto Vallarta. Around 300 canines got to strut their stuff at the Sports Stadium February 24th and 25th, as dogs came from all over the Banderas Bay area to compete for "Top Dog" status.

The audience, along with local veterinarians, judged the contests. It was a difficult task selecting the Best Costume, the Most Beautiful and the Funniest Dog, just to name a few of the categories.

Around 4000 spectators caught all the action, including an agility demonstration by a group out of Guadalajara. Next year organizers hope for a bigger show.

All the proceeds from the Dog Show/Perrotón go to improving what the Puerto Vallarta Animal Shelter, or Centro de Acopio, has been doing on behalf of PV's abandoned animals for years.

To volunteer at the Animal Shelter, please call (322) 293-3690. You can adopt a pet between 10 am and 2 pm every Monday through Friday.
