On Friday, January 23, 2009, Club Mañana hosted the VES Red Ribbon fundraising event which drew from our community 150 caring people, both straight and gay. Club Mañana transformed itself to an enchanting evening adorned in red to host this very important fundraiser for VES.

What an amazing night it was. Entertainers donated their time and energy to perform for to the crowd entertaining us for almost 2 hours. Entertainers included: Cassandra, Mikki Prost, Diva and Joanna. Live performances by Mikki Prost and Joanna delighted the audience along with all of the choreographed dance numbers.

In addition to VES receiving 100% of door receipts, the big surprise of the night was Club Mañana owner Peter Deep donating $25,000 pesos, which allowed VES to purchase a vehicle to continue their good work in our community. This most generous donation was gladly accepted by Paco Arjona, Executive Director and Juan Carlos Garcia, Secretary of VES. Let's hope that other business leaders in Puerto Vallarta follow Peter Deep's lead and also donate as generously.

It is the mission of VES to reduce the number of new cases of HIV infection; to assist persons and families already affected by HIV; and to eliminate the stigma and discrimination associated with the HIV disease in the Banderas Bay area. They believe that by encouraging widespread HIV testing, by educating the public, and by ensuring that all those in need of treatment receive it, we can bring the epidemic under control in Puerto Vallarta and the surrounding region, which currently reports the fourth highest number of HIV cases of any Mexican city.

The Red Ribbon is one of the larger fundraising events for VES in Puerto Vallarta, but you can also help. By contacting VES, you can make a donation of $50, $200, $500 pesos, all donations will be readily accepted to continue the good work here in the Banderas Bay area.
Puerto Vallarta's HIV/AIDS non-profit organization, Vallarta Enfrenta el SIDA, and CAPASITS, work together to provide high-quality medical care, counseling and psychological support, education and prevention programs, and outreach to at-risk communities in the Banderas Bay area. For information, assistance, or to volunteer or donate, please visit VallartaEnfrentaSida.org. To learn more about VES, click HERE.
