Last weekend's public appearances by Lorena Ochoa were just the beginning of a series of events designed to revive the faltering tourist economy in Puerto Vallarta.

As part of President Felipe Calderon's 'Vive Mexico' campaign, Lorena Ochoa, the world's #1 LPGA player, made two public appearances in Puerto Vallarta on Saturday, May 30th.

At 10 am, she participated in a tournament at Vista Vallarta's Jack Nicklaus Golf Course, before heading over to the Los Arcos Amphitheater for a ceremony coronating Lorena Ochoa as the official 'Tourist Ambassador of Puerto Vallarta' by the Jalisco Secretary of Tourism.

Last weekend's public appearances by Lorena Ochoa were just the beginning of a series of events designed to revive the faltering tourist economy in Puerto Vallarta.

Upcoming events include MPM Meeting Place Mexico, a trade show for corporate meetings and conventions from June 7 to 9, an International Volleyball Tournament from June 12-14, the Central American qualification for the Beach Soccer World Cup June 17-21, a free concert by Guadalajara-born singer Alejandro Fernandez at the Los Arcos Amphitheater on June 20th, the National Disabled Games from June 24-27th and the Puerto Vallarta International Triathalon on June 28th.

The Jalisco state government is also considering launching a bid to host the 2009 MTV Latin American Video Awards in the Puerto Vallarta Convention Center in mid-October, after successfully holding the 2008 awards in Guadalajara.
