3rd Annual Riviera Nayarit International Marlin & Tuna Fishing Tournament was held at the Marina Riviera Nayarit in La Cruz de Huanacaxtle August 13-15, 2009. This year's tournament provided some rigorous competition as anglers from around the world vied for the $100,000 peso purse, given to the person who breaks the Tournament Marlin record. The Mexican Pacific Coast Marlin record of 710.55 pounds, set by Alejandro Herrera during the inaugural year 2007 of The Riviera Nayarit Marlin and Tuna International Fishing Tournament was not broke this year.

This year's tournament also offers a first place purse of $100,000 pesos for the first tuna caught that exceeds the tournament record of 167.55 lbs. For more information, and a complete list of prizes or to register for the next Riviera Nayarit International Fishing Tournament, please visit RivieraNayaritFishingTournament.com.

In this first of a 2-part episode, we interviewed the Club de Peca members, sponsor, contestants, and first day winners. We also interviewed the Organizers of the Event, Joanquin Soto, Giorgio Simone, and the directors of the event Raul Serna, Bill Gres, Pablo Delgadillo, and David Zarragosa.

We ran into an old friend Captain Danny LuLu, Captain on the boat Incognito and got Danny to let us go fishing on Randy's Boat the Incognito who gave us an exciting first day of fishing.

We were able to see a great demonstration on how to properly string live bait and got all the secrets of Tournament Fishing from Phil. One of the crew even had a refreshing dip into the water to start the day off right.
