Vera Bakery is located in Bucerias, Nayarit, Lazaro Cardenas # 101, in the same block as Mark’s. Phone: (329) 298-1962. Open seven days a week, Monday through Saturday 8 am- 8 pm, Sunday 8:30 am – 3 pm. WiFi available.
For the pastry and sweet lover, Vera Bakery in Bucerias, on the North Bay, is a gem. Sparkling fruits and cloud-like whipped cream garnish cheesecakes, tarts and éclairs. Chocolate abounds in brownies, chocolate chunk muffins and chocolate mousse cake. Savory food is available, also: paninis, whole wheat bread, and quiches. And new items are coming: Bûche de Noël for the holidays, appetizer-sized empanadas and salads.

Owner and baker Christian Calvento came from Argentina to Bucerias, after a series of pastry jobs with the Marriott Hotel in Buenos Aires, Disney Cruise Lines, and the Four Seasons in Puenta Mita. He now works his pastry magic at Vera Bakery, named for his mother and first kitchen mentor.

Vera Bakery makes special cakes for birthdays and weddings, and will be taking orders for holiday and party treats. For more mouth-watering photos and information, see my food blog at Cooking in Mexico.

Kathleen Dobek explores the culinary traditions of Mexico from her home in La Cruz de Huanacaxtle, Nayarit. Through regular columns on BanderasNews and via her Cooking in Mexico blog, Kathleen shares her experiences in Mexico and introduces the great variety of New World ingredients and contemporary dishes of this country to the foreigners who visit and live here.
