Puerto Vallarta, Mexico - Sunday, March 31, is National Taco Day in Mexico, so make plans now to celebrate this tasty national dish that has brought joy to the world for generations, as Puerto Vallarta hosts the fourth edition of the Feria del Taco (Taco Fair).

Scheduled to take place at Lazaro Cardenas Park from 4 to 11 pm, this year's Feria del Taco will feature live music, artisanal Raicilla cocktails, craft beers, and dozens of varieties and styles of this extraordinary event's main attraction... the taco!

Tacos are undoubtedly one of mankind's greatest achievements. A food rich in history, older in fact than sliced bread, the history of the taco predates the arrival of Europeans in Mexico. All the way back to the Aztec, in fact.

According to anthropological evidence, the original tacos date back to before the Spanish had arrived in Mexico, and were introduced to the conquistadors by the Aztecs Mexicas, the native people living in the lake region of the Valley of Mexico, who traditionally ate corn tortillas filled with small fish.

Different regions of the country filled their tacos with ingredients found in their natural environments. In the states of Morelos and Guerrero, the fish were replaced by small live insects and ants, while locusts and snails were favorite fillings in Puebla and Oaxaca.

Thankfully, tacos have adapted to the times. Today, these versatile hand-held treats are filled with a variety of more appetizing fillings, including beef, pork, chicken, seafood, vegetables, and beans, allowing great versatility and variety.

Don't miss your chance to try some of the best tacos in town at Puerto Vallarta's Fourth Feria del Taco. Make plans now to come out to Lázaro Cárdenas park this Sunday, March 31st starting at 4 pm. Admission is free.
