Mexico Ships Inmates Out of Last Island Penal Colony

In February, President Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador announced that he would close the infamous Isla Marias prison, and convert it into a cultural and environmental education center. Mexico announced on Monday that all the island's prisoners have been moved to mainland jails.
