Puerto Vallarta, Mexico - The Las Vegas Summer Market 2019 just wrapped up last week. For decorators, designers and buyers looking for the latest furniture trends or professionals in the business of tracking and reporting on the evolution of design, this show is a must see!

Designers from the CRATE Interiors team, who work in Puerto Vallarta and Los Angeles, Houston and Orlando, were on the look-out for key resort-friendly trends to influence furnishing projects for the upcoming high season. This season's show was buzzing with fresh ideas, new vendors and décor exhibits sure to inspire and excite conversations with home buyers around the Bay of Banderas.

According to the latest Vallarta Real Estate Fair Report over 1,100 condominiums, villas, homes, haciendas and commercial properties were purchased around the Bay of Banderas in 2018, that's about 16% up in volume and over 23% in revenue year on year. Clearly, there's a significant interest in living, working and playing in paradise!

For the many first-time or serial homebuyers, rental agencies and seasoned developers, leveraging the right resources to design, decorate and furnish these properties with a professional plan to maximize their real estate investments is absolutely key.

Terence Reilly of Mexlend expands on the trend by explaining: "The current market is very extremely strong in Puerto Vallarta. The majority of the sales are in new condo buildings and driven by the AirBnB phenomenon. This is reflected in every aspect of the new buildings, from construction to common amenities, and particularly interior design. A professional aesthetic and décor plan is critical, even in smaller units where opulent roof decks feature large infinity pools and bars for the guest's enjoyment. More lenders have moved into the market, and this is also helping to drive sales."

For that reason, CRATE Interiors designers stay up to date on key trends to keep homebuyer clients competitive in this growing market. Las Vegas Market happens twice yearly and provides access to more than 4,300 vendors ranging from top brands to up-and-coming studios in an interactive exhibition space. Three inter-connecting buildings boast dynamic trend displays, seasonal presentations by top decor, furnishing and giftware resources to fit every budget.

A key component of this season's Summer Market show was the Aid to Artisans pavilion which showcased upwards of 20 first-time exhibitors from South and Central America, Asia, the Caribbean and Africa. Most notably, the display featured brightly colored Oaxaca style hand embroidered pillows, charming artisan created jewelry with Sayulita-inspired fringe, pompoms and tassels, plus a wide selection of handwoven baskets of all sizes with bold, geometric patterns.

All these folkloric home crafts are instantly recognizable and much loved by visitors and residents around the Bay of Banderas. Take a peek on YouTube.

Four Key Trends We Can't Live Without

Neutrals – a time tested trend. A cohesive décor plan starts with a neutral palette executed throughout the entire unit. Whether you choose white, cream, linen, or decide to go with a bolder palette of greys, slates or even hues of blues, think "less is more," and focus on one neutral palette.

Reclaimed Woods – this trend is perfect for Vallarta because of the region's rich woodworking history. Blending exquisite handmade elements like casual driftwood, ornately carved pieces and evocative tribal art from other Oceanic regions like Bali and Africa adds to the character of a project and fits beautifully into this cross-cultural destination.

Repurposed – upcycled objects add character and presence to any decor scheme, and in Vallarta that has particular relevance this season. Increasingly, vintage properties are being renovated to modernize functionality and retaining the details of a bygone era. An iron chandelier with contemporary lines or a repurposed jute basket complements any clean, minimalist décor.

Neue Nautical – every beach dweller is a little bit natty by nature. A few well-placed nautical accessories create a sense of instant relaxation. Wide, awning strips are always on trend as a coastal accent and the pop of a classic red, white and blue marine palette is as crisp and refreshing as an early morning ocean dip.

With such an abundance of resort-friendly ideas, colors, patterns, textures and varied options available for home furnishings in Puerto Vallarta, there's no reason to delay in creating a design concept from start to finish for your real estate investment in paradise.
