Mexico City - Viva Aerobus, Mexico's ultra-low-cost carrier, reached 100 domestic routes with the announcement of its new regular flights from Puerto Vallarta to Tijuana.
Tickets for this route, which will begin operations on December 13 with three flights per week (Tuesday, Wednesday and Sunday), are already on sale with one-way tickets starting at $1,498 pesos.
"We are very excited because Viva Aerobus connects two Grupo Aeroportuario del Pacifico (GAP) airports: the international airport in Puerto Vallarta, one of Mexico's most important tourist destinations; with Tijuana, whose recently remodeled airport facilitates the northern border crossing via the Cross Border Xpress (CBX). The region benefits from a boost to connectivity, tourism and local economic spillover, synonymous with growth and development for both destinations," said Raśl Revuelta, the CEO of GAP.
With this new route, Viva Aerobus strengthens its presence in these two cities. On the one hand, the airline already has 10 routes at the Tijuana International Airport, one of its five operational bases, and is positioned as the airline that offers the second most destinations from this international gateway.
Just this year, it has launched four new routes in Tijuana. This leadership in the border city is supported by a significant increase in passenger preference, with Viva registering a 48% increase in its number of customers in the first six months of the year from/to this city.
The airline now has five routes from Puerto Vallarta, a town where it has also reported a 17 percent growth in total passengers in the first half of the year compared to 2018.
The expansion of the offer of Viva Aerobus has been a constant during 2019, resulting in 23 routes newly integrated into its portfolio so far this year. In two consecutive months, June and July, the airline registered more than one million customers.
"We not only celebrate a milestone for Viva Aerobus with our 100th national route, but also for the connectivity of the country for the direct benefit of all passengers. Guided by our vocation as ambassadors of Mexico, we have taken another step with the clear objective of offering the widest variety of national routes at unbeatable prices," said Juan Carlos Zuazua, general director of Viva Aerobus.
