The Confederation of North, Central American and Caribbean Association Football (Concacaf) has confirmed that the region's qualification tournament for the Men's Olympic Football Tournament Tokyo 2020 will take place from 20 March to 1 April in Guadalajara, Mexico.
Eight teams will compete for two spots at Tokyo 2020, which will take place in July and August of next year, with matches to be held at the Jalisco and Akron Stadiums.
Mexico became the first nation from the region to win the Men's Olympic Football Tournament at the London games in 2012.
"Our teams have delivered strong and historic performances in the Olympic Games, we are looking forward to raising the competitive level in the region and bringing the gold back to Concacaf next year," Concacaf General Secretary Philippe Moggio said.
Six teams are already confirmed to participate in the qualification tournament: hosts Mexico, Canada, Costa Rica, El Salvador, Honduras and USA. The remaining two teams will be known in September at the conclusion of the Caribbean qualifiers. The confederation also announced that the date and procedures for the draw for the tournament will be revealed in the coming months.
