Bubba & The Bottom Feeders emerged on the music scene several years ago - primarily playing in the north bay area of Banderas Bay, Mexico - an area known to most people as the location of the resort city of Puerto Vallarta. And like many music groups, it has evolved over the years.
The group plays a somewhat zany and sometimes irreverent mix of music - all meant to provide the audience with a fun experience.
One thing that hasn’t changed over the years is the support the group provides to those experiencing economic hardship. Their primary project involves providing food to needy families in the area - with a focus on helping children. The group plays for tips only and uses these, along with any funds received from the sale of their promotional material, for their community support program.
To ensure that funds are allocated directly to this program, the group handles all the work associated with the activity - buying the food in bulk, repackaging and delivering it directly to the final recipient. There is no ‘middle man’ being paid an administration fee, ensuring that all funds raised go toward helping families.
Individuals needing assistance are brought to the attention of the group through a number of sources and members of the group visit these families to ensure that the need is genuine.
Thanks to the tremendous support the group has received, efforts have been expanded to include significant contributions to medical needs in several communities in Banderas Bay.
The work of the group - both in putting on the entertainment and behind the scenes - is ably assisted by Yuly and Val and a number of other close friends and supporters who help during their performances, assist with fund raising and help with the many behind the scenes activities that bring the program to those in need.
Although the group is only together during the ‘high season’ - normally December through March - each year, the food distribution program continues throughout the Summer months - a time of even greater need due to the fewer tourist dollars being spent in the community. They are indebted to the many friends who assist them and the many people who have come to their performances and contributed financial support through tips and the purchase of their promotional items. The people, who are the beneficiaries of your generosity, are truly appreciative.
