Bienvenidos! Delta Welcomes Customers to Mexico with New Routes
email this pageprint this pageemail usPrimeZone

Customers in five U.S. cities to gain increased non-stop access to destinations across Mexico thanks to Delta's ongoing expansion.
Delta Air Lines' customers planning a sunny getaway to Mexico this spring or summer will find it easier to reach most any corner of the vacation paradise thanks to the largest expansion into Mexico in Delta's history. Subject to Mexican government approvals, Delta plans to offer customers flights on 12 new non-stop routes between the United States and Mexico by June, including the airline's first-ever service to Merida. Delta has received U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT) approval to serve the 12 new routes, which are now available for sale to customers. The new routes are:

• Atlanta to Acapulco (April 5), Merida (Feb. 26) and Zihuatanejo/Ixtapa (April 12)
• Cincinnati to Cancun (June 1) and Los Cabos (Feb. 18)
• Los Angeles to Cancun (June 3) and Zihuatanejo/Ixtapa (April 15)
• New York-JFK to Acapulco (March 11), Cozumel (June 3), Los Cabos (April 8) and Puerto Vallarta (March 4)
• Salt Lake City to Mazatlan (March 8)

"Delta is continuing its forward momentum with dynamic growth into Mexico," said James Sarvis, Delta's director for Latin America and the Caribbean. "In addition to offering the second-most destinations to Central and South America as well as operating the second-largest Southeastern gateway to the Caribbean from our Atlanta hub, we will soon provide our customers with even more access to some of the most in-demand leisure locations in Mexico."

Delta's ongoing southward expansion in 2006 builds on flights already started to Mexico during 2005. In December, Delta began new service between Atlanta and Puerto Vallarta, added another flight each between Atlanta and Guadalajara (two daily) and Mexico City (three daily), and added a third flight that will operate seasonally between Atlanta and Monterrey.

Additionally, Delta is seeking DOT approval to serve three additional routes by summer 2006: New York-JFK to Cancun, and Los Angeles to Puerto Vallarta and Los Cabos. These pending route applications and new service will strengthen Delta's already solid presence in Mexico in terms of available seats once all DOT and Mexican government approvals are received.

The addition of non-stop flights between Delta's hubs and destinations throughout Mexico is the latest in a series of moves to strengthen the airline's standing as a leading carrier throughout Latin America and the Caribbean, since adding, announcing or applying to serve more than 35 new routes in the region during the past year.

For specific schedules and fares to these and the many other destinations Delta serves in Mexico and throughout Latin America and the Caribbean, customers should visit delta.com.

A portion of travel for some itineraries may be on the Delta Connection carriers Atlantic Southeast Airlines, Shuttle America or SkyWest, or SkyTeam partner Aeromexico.

Delta Air Lines (Other OTC:DALRQ) is the world's second-largest airline in terms of passengers carried, offering daily flights to 503 destinations in 94 countries on Delta, Song, Delta Shuttle, the Delta Connection carriers and its worldwide partners. In summer 2006, Delta will be the world's leading carrier across the Atlantic as it launches flights to 11 new European destinations from its Atlanta and New York-JFK hubs. Delta also is a major carrier to Mexico, South and Central America and the Caribbean, with more than 35 routes announced, added or applied to serve since Jan. 1, 2005. Delta's marketing alliances also allow customers to earn and redeem SkyMiles on more than 14,000 flights offered by SkyTeam and other partners. Delta is a founding member of SkyTeam, a global airline alliance that provides customers with extensive worldwide destinations, flights and services. Customers can check in for flights, print boarding passes and check flight status at delta.com.
