| El Calcetin Soltario is open from 7 am-7 pm Monday-Friday, and 8 am-4 pm on Saturdays. | Bucerias, Nayarit - Karl and Rosa West may have just arrived in Bucerias, but they have wasted no time in trying to clean up the town. Their new business, a laundry called El Calcetin Soltario (The Lonely Sock) opened on Monday, February 6th. They are located on Highway 200 in Bucerias, across the highway from Restaurant Famar.
The Wests offer the traditional wash-dry-fold service and also have the first coin-operated self service washers and dryers in the Bucerias area. "We wanted to give people the choice of doing their own wash," said Rosa. "Some people are in a hurry or just like to do their own laundry."
Self-service machines cost $20 pesos for the washer and $20 for dryer. The wash-dry-fold service costs $11 pesos/kg. Rosa says "We will provide fast service. Clothes will be ready to go the day after drop-off, if not sooner."
Rosa credits husband Karl with coming up with the idea of opening the laundry and also with coming up with the name. She says they will both be active in the business and one of them will always be on-site during business hours. With many tourists and snowbirds in Bucerias, they feel it is important to have bilingual personnel to help assure a high level of service.
In addition to laundry, ironing service will be available. Rosa also has a seamstress available for mending and alterations. Rosa and Karl moved to Bucerias in December, 2005 from Houston, Texas. Rosa, an Acapulco native, has previous laundry experience.
Stop by and visit Rosa and Karl. Just look for the blue storefront with a picture of a lonely sock in a washing machine.
