Charity Golf Tournament Volunteers Needed!
email this pageprint this pageemail usPVNN

Puerto Vallarta, Mexico is the place to be from March 27th-April 2nd, as the PGA Champions Tour and ClubCorp host the Blue Agave Golf Classic at the Jack Nicklaus Signature Course at Vista Vallarta Golf Club. For more info about the event, click HERE.
So, you enjoy golf... But what if we told you that volunteering for the Vallarta Blue Agave Golf Classic would not only give you the opportunity to get up close and personal with some of the greatest names in golf - but would also give you the chance to give something back to the community that gives us all so much?

Volunteering to work at the Puerto Vallarta Golf Classic Champions Tour Tournament offers all of that... and more! From March 27th-April 2nd, five hundred golf enthusiasts will not only be able to be on the “field of play” during this Senior PGA tour event - but will also get the satisfaction of lending a helping hand to some of the less fortunate children and families living in Puerto Vallarta and around Banderas Bay.

The PGA, together with local tournament organizers, have promised to donate more than $50,000 USD to some of our most popular charitable organizations in Puerto Vallarta, including: the Make A Wish Foundation, Becas Vallarta A.C (Scholarships Vallarta), Toys For Tots, R.I.S.E. (the Refugio Infantil Santa Esperanza Children’s Shelter), the International Friendship Club, and the Children Of The Dump program.

Puerto Vallarta committee member Joe Johnston, who successfully coordinated the volunteers for the World Cup Golf Championship that took place here in 2002, had this to say: "The public that follows the players along the golf course and the people who watch this tournament on television do not know everything that goes on offstage. Since this is a tournament that directly benefits our economy, we would like the people of Vallarta to get involved and to support us."

Johnston finished by saying: "We need approximately 300 volunteers for the tournament. There are jobs for those in very good physical condition, as well as office jobs. It is not necessary to speak English nor do you not need any experience in golf since we provide the necessary training for the job assigned to each volunteer. There are a total of 19 categories of volunteer jobs, and the work schedule ranges between 4 to 5 hours a day. And the best part about volunteering is that you get close to all of the players."

The Committee asks all volunteers for a contribution of $75 USD and will receive the following things in exchange for his contribution:

• Three Puerto Vallarta Classic logo shirts *
• Two Puerto Vallarta Classic golf hats or visors
• Daily admission badge
• Coffee and pastries daily
• Lunch daily
• Two transferable, free rounds of golf at Vista Vallarta (some restrictions apply)
• Two season passes for the event
• Discount dining certificates for area restaurants during the event
• An invitation to the Volunteer Gala Fiesta

Note: Khaki or tan shorts, slacks or skirts required - but not supplied.

According to members of the committee, the Vallarta Blue Agave Golf Classic volunteer package has an approximate value of $750 USD, which is ten times more than the contribution.

If you are interested in participating, or simply in finding out what jobs are available, please visit: www.vistavallartagolf.com, click on "Volunteers" and complete the registration form, or call [322] 290-2672 for more information.
