Mid-Term Elections, Remember Our K.I.A. David Lord - PVNN
| Bob Woodward's 'State of Denial: Bush at War, Part III' examines how the Bush administration avoided telling the truth about Iraq to the public, to Congress, and often to themselves.

It is the VETERAN, not the campus organizer, who has given us freedom to assemble. It is the VETERAN, not the lawyer, who has given us the right to a fair trial. It is the VETERAN, not the politician, who has given us the right to vote.
One of the reasons I write this column is to give you a sense of what is right or wrong from an America Veterans viewpoint. I know that many of the people who read my column have no background or experience in the Military. So when our Patriots spill their blood on Arab soil, does that give further reason to stay "The Course" and continue to spill more blood?
If you understand that the combat squad is a team on the front line with six or seven men facing the enemy and fighting to stay alive, whose members are willing to die for one another, our political Parties, Congressmen, Senators and Presidents may use these past sacrifices to argue the case for sacrificing even more lives, making you (the voter) feel guilty for not supporting the troops there. This is wrong.
So if you plan to vote in the mid-term elections, remember our killed in action (k.i.a.) has nearly reached three thousand of America's finest citizens. This extremely sad commentary about the leadership of America is raising new questions about what our future looks like after we self-imposed ourselves in Arab countries by war, resulting in our isolation by the ever-angered Muslim world.
Some of our best citizens die each day for the Iraq people. In fact, sixty of our soldiers are gone forever just halfway through this month of October 2006. At an average of four lives per day, it is stacking up to be the highest 'killed in action' month for the entire three years of war.
Can we claim their sacrifices maintain any of the freedoms mentioned above? The soldiers' lives and futures being used up in this Iraq War are endangering our cherished freedoms rather than preserving them.
We, by the ineptitude of our government, and our Soldiers, by merely serving in American armed forces, end up dead and wounded for a Muslim country - not for America.
When a Marine or Soldier sacrifices his/her life, it is for their squad, they know that a friend may live or survive because of their heroism. The Terrorist are doing the same in their minds, (believe it or not in the name of Islam), so I say when our soldiers die only for one another, the Citizens need to bring them home. They will not abandon the field of battle or the field of honor by their own decision.
We know that the geo/political/military planning of this President's Cabinet can only cover the next few sorties, because of the speed of world events (i.e. North Korea.) So day by day we wander without a final destination or solution to a radical Muslim agenda that are willingly feeding their young into this Iraqi war.
It is not possible to fight a war to free Iraq while Iran is manipulating and feeding the hatred of America within Iraq's borders. Each day we endure the loss of our troops while trying to insert a western style Democracy in a region floating on oil - literally floating on money. How can you expect a people to agree to the control by a foreign force when billions of dollars are literally underfoot?
They have a destiny to be decided by themselves. Our grand plan of Democracy is as hated by Arab Sheiks and Kings as by the Terrorist fanatics. This election is about one very important issue, getting out of Iraq and you (the voter) should help our troops by bringing them out.
The opinions are mine and do not reflect on any organization that I associate with in providing federal benefits. David Lord served in Vietnam as combat Marine for 1st Battalion 26th Marines, during which time he was severely wounded. He received the Purple Heart and the Presidential Unit Citation for his actions during the war in Vietnam. In Mexico, David now represents all veterans south of the U.S. border all the way to Panama, before the V.A. and the Board of Veterans Appeals. David Lord provides service to veterans at no fee. Veterans are welcome to drop in and discuss claims/benefits to which they are entitled by law at his office located at Bayside Properties, 160 Francisca Rodriguez, tel.: 223-4424, call him at home 299-5367, on his cell: 044 (322) 205-1323, or email him at mophmx@@yahoo.com or david.lord@yahoo.com.
