They're all located in Punta de Mita, Nayarit, Mexico.
What use to be the secret surfing spot in the '60´s is no longer a secret - and quickly developing into THE destination on the Mexican Riviera, Banderas Bay. That's why Cyber Café Luna is opening its maiden store in Punta de Mita.
Owner Deborah Bockholt from South Padre Island, Texas and partner Art Mendoza from Bayview, Texas bring a simple concept to fine dining at reasonable prices. With great vision, Deborah, who likes to be called "Debo," picked Punta de Mita because of its bright future in resorts and condominium developments.
With her history in real estate and string of successful retail shops, like her retail clothing store LunaSea on South Padre Island, and past successes like Welcome Aboard and The Sea Shoppe, Debo's Cyber café in Punta Mita will surely be a winner.
An avid fisherwoman, Deborah can fish with the best of them - and has the awards to prove it. Ask her about the 774 lb Blue Marlin she caught in Cozumel and all her other trips from St. Thomas to Hawaii. "We'll cook your catch too..."
Art Mendoza is in charge of conceptualizing the partnership's endeavor. Musician, storyboard artist and restaurateur, Art has been taught by the finest; Bernard Urban, Julio DeLuna, Paul Prudhomme and Brion D´Altec, to name a few. He was also a head saucier for Phil Romano's Eatzi´s in the ritzy River Oaks area of Houston, Texas.
"My family has been in the produce brokerage business for well over 80 years, and being an artist, I worked in restaurants all the time... that's how I survived during lean times."
His experience in the kitchen brings a short menu of high quality items to Café Luna. With some Mexican dishes like breakfast quesadillas and fish tacos, the restaurant will mainly focus on dishes tourists are familiar with... how about a Fried Egg & Ham Sandwich with Home Fries or a Turkey Sandwich on a multi-grain bread with Potato Salad & Cole Slaw?
Evening menus will consist of two entrees to select from, like Monday night's Red Beans & Rice with New Orleans Gumbo or Meatloaf with peas, carrots and roasted garlic mashed potatoes. Saturday, called "Texas Night," offers you a choice of BBQ Brisket, Pork Ribs or Chicken, served with potato salad, cole slaw, beans and cornbread. Leave room for dessert, it's included!
Café Luna's concept of keeping the menu simple and serving high quality food in large portions at a set price is just what Punta Mita residents and visitors have been waiting for. With unpredictable gas prices, diners want to stay close to home for exceptional food at reasonable prices. And with breakfast costing $50 pesos including coffee or tea; lunch at $60 pesos and dinner at just $90 pesos, Cafe Luna fills the bill!
Interior accommodations including computers, direct telephone line to the United States, and artwork by international artists like Antonin and Mick Reber, as well as Huichol artwork will attract visitors.
Local artists may be seen while patrons enjoy Brazilian, Dylan, Jazz and other styles of music - plus Surf movies will be a regular event on Monday nights. The coffee roaster's aroma will be irresistible when it is installed in the near future and the music by artists that Art has performed with in the past will fill the streets.
