Puerto Vallarta, Mexico - Step up for a big helping of exciting "Culinary Madness" El Dorado style on Los Muertos Beach in Puerto Vallarta during Festival Gourmet XII, November 9th till November 19th.
Chef Memo Wulff and Guest Chef Sonia Montero of Kaffe-K Cocina and Bar in Guadalajara, Mexico invite diners to experience their own brand of culinary magic as they blend unusual but traditional Mexican cooking methods with contemporary international gourmet.
Chefs Memo and Sonia will wrap baby piglets in banana leaves and roast them in pits in the sand in front of El Dorado, and bake dorado and surprise ingredients in the clay from Chef Wulff's own farm property.
Pair these traditional delicacies with fine international wines, and dance the night away to the Cuban rhythms of El Dorado's live musicians. After dinner, Chef Wulff puts down the knives, picks up the "guitarra," and plays salsa as enthusiastically as he cooks!
These two young "out of the box" Mexican chefs combine to offer you innovative cuisine steeped in Mexican tradition. Chef Sonia Montero, 32, is influenced by Mediterranean cuisine and her passion for Mexican food. She has collaborated in events at the Metropolitan Museum in New York, was Corporate Chef at Vezzo Restaurante, and Executive Chef at Tinto Y Blanco Wine Bar before joining Kaffe-K. Her mission is to generate exciting menus and special experiences.
Chef Memo Wulff is a graduate of the California Culinary Academy, and is a student of innovation, fusing ethnicity and technique and imagination. He cooked at James Beard House in New York in September 2006 with noted Mexican chef Luis Fitch of Los Xitomates, and in early November teamed with Fitch at Epcot Centre's International Food and Wine Festival in Florida.
