Holiday Boutique Benefit for Biblioteca Higuera
email this pageprint this pageemail usPamela Thompson - PVNN

Biblioteca Higuera founder, Sally Conley, in the enchantingly festive atmosphere of her children's library.
Once upon a time (a few years ago), a wonderful lady named Sally Conley (a former literary agent) built a magical house that is a stone's throw from the large cathedral in El Pitillal. Lovingly designed by her dear friend, Clarke Plaxco, they built, behind Sally's house, a little library.

Little by little, the small library became filled with children's books in both English and Spanish, art and craft supplies that were magically transformed into bright and colorful cats and birds that pop up throughout the ferns and gardens on sticks, all around the house and library, tables and chairs... for little people and big people!

Word quickly spread though out the land of Pitillal that this little wonderland was open to the children so that they too, could discover the magic of reading a book. (Now, I know for a fact that Puerto Vallarta is filled with avid readers!)

Sally's dream of spreading this magic to the local children by using her little library called "Biblioteca de la Higuera" (house of the fig tree) became a reality, bringing lots of happiness to many local little boys and girls.

Sally's dream has become a reality - and with that reality of course, brings some expenses. It is for that reason, we have decided to have the second benefit to assist with some of the day to day expenses of keeping this magical kingdom alive.

On Monday, November 27th, from 7-9 pm, please join us at Casa de la Higuera (Hidalgo 256 - two blocks down from the back of the cathedral in Pitillal) for a Holiday Boutique benefit for Sally's little library.

Lots of little stocking stuffers for Christmas gifts, tapas lovingly created by Chef Marta Huantes-Robles, a Cash Bar (drinks cheerfully prepared by Joe Thompson,) posters by the talented Judith Ewing-Moring and Cassandra Shaw, greeting cards by the children and volunteers and some great camaraderie! As well, the two new murals by artist Kitty Roberts are a must-see!

This year, in addition to the "catsickles" and "chatty chickens" made by the children of the bibilioteca, there will be a new assortment of gift items. Flip-flop fly swatters, evening bags, bookmarks, greeting cards, books, and a variety of fun stocking stuffers.

For the epicures among you, a drawing for gift certificates for meals at some of the finest restaurants in Vallarta, including Cafe des Artistes, Cafe Cathedral, River Cafe, Kaiser Maximillian, La Fuente del Puente, Panda, Trio and Vitea, among others.

All of the proceeds from the 2006 Biblioteca Higuera Holiday Boutique Benefit will help Sally Conley to keep her little children's library alive, so don't miss this fun-filled evening - for a good cause!

For more information, please contact Sally Conley at 224-2078 or sallyconley@pvnet.com.mx and/or Pamela Thompson at 222-9638 or pmt15@hotmail.com.
