Banana Cantina - a Restaurant with a Very Big Heart
email this pageprint this pageemail usSudy Coy - PVNN

The Refugio Infantil Santa Esperanza, (R.I.S.E.), is a non-profit shelter for babies and children under the age of 14 who have been turned over to R.I.S.E. by DIF (Desarrollo Integral de la Familia), a Mexican government institution that is the legal representative for minors under the age of 14.
Debbi & Mike Egan, owner of Banana Cantina have dedicated every Wednesday night to a charity here in Vallarta, giving 10% of the house to the charity. Last Wednesday night, December 21st, was dedicated to Refugio Infantil Santa Esperanza.

Cassandra Shaw, co-owner of Leona 226 hosted the event, donating a beautiful necklace of abalone & silver valued at $150 USD for raffle sales, along with two gift certificates valued at $20 USD each.

Joining Cassandra were hosts Nina Goodhope, owner of La Bodega de Nina, distributor of fine wines and tropical treats here in Vallarta, Sudy Coy, Board Member of Refugio Infantil Santa Esperanza and, of course, Debbi Egan.

The restaurant was filled to capacity with friends here in Vallarta who are great supporters of the local charities, along with many new people who participated and were interested in learning more about the Refugio and the local charities.

When the raffle winners were announced, the winner of the necklace, Louise Mann, decided to put it up for auction. That´s when Grant Hunermund, owner of Mama Dolores, stepped in and became our fabulous auctioneer.

The piece was purchased by Larry Sheldon... don´t be surprised if you see Len Greenhough of BLU by Len wearing this wonderful Bling Bling while he is making his clients look beautiful as he does for so many of us locals here in Vallarta.

Thanks to Debbi, Mike, Cassandra, Nina and Grant for making this a wonderful night for all, and from the beautiful Angelitos at Refugio Infantil Santa Esperanza, we thank you from the bottom of our hearts for your support and generosities. The night's festivities raised a total of $3,920 pesos, and a wonderful evening was had by all.
