A Time to Give Brock Squire - PVNN
I can hardly believe that another year has gone by and we are now in the Holiday Season again! Things here at Punta Mita have been amazing with so many new and exciting additions taking place.
As the year winds down, I want to take this opportunity to wish you the very best for the coming year and trust that you and your family will have an enjoyable Holiday Season over the coming weeks!
One of the most rewarding events that takes place in our community during this time of festivities is the annual Toys-4-Tots fund drive. Toys 4 Tots is usually one of the largest, best attended events of the high season by local snowbirds and nationals. The money collected is used to purchase balls, toy trucks and dolls to distribute on 3 Kings Day, January 6 to local children in the poorer colonias of the bay area.
The event is based on the US Marine tradition started after WW II to win the hearts and minds of adults and children and take away their fear of soldiers as they occupied the South Pacific islands. It has continued to this day all over the world and is led by the local Navy League who also fund other charitable activities to benefit children and good works in our area.
This year, the Toys-4-Tots organization in Puerto Vallarta is looking for record results from my associated firm, Coldwell Banker La Costa Realty who is a major sponsor of this popular fund raising event held December 9th and 10th, and I hope that you will be able to share in those results with us.
We will be co-sponsoring the Charity Golf Tournament at the La Vista Golf Club in Puerto Vallarta on the 9th as well as the evening Gala Dinner at the Marriott Hotel the evening of the 10th. If you would like more information as to how you may participate in these events please contact me and I will be pleased to get you the information immediately.
I am inviting you to join me in actively supporting Toys-4-Tots in Puerto Vallarta for a couple of reasons. One is that over the years I have come to realize that scores of children in the Puerto Vallarta area never have the chance to experience the gift of joy by opening a present at Christmas, because their parents or parent barely has enough money for food and shelter, let alone for buying gifts for their children. The other is that the Toys-4-Tots organization operates on a 100% donated time and expense basis - no money goes to any kind of 'administrative' costs, it all goes to the kids.
Overwhelming these reasons though, is the look of sheer joy and excitement on the faces of these beautiful children when they get these presents and the message that the expatriate community sends in supporting this worthy event!
If you would like to donate to this most worthy cause, you may do so by any of the following methods:
1. If you would like a US, IRS tax receipt via the Children and Families in Need Foundation, a 501(C)(3) organization please mail your check to:
Children and Families in Need Foundation P.O. Box 30484 Raleigh, N.C. 27622
(The check should indicate in the memo section 'Toys-4-Tots PV CBLC' - and be sure to indicate whether you want the receipt dated 2006 or 2007 and where you want the receipt sent.)
2. Dropping a check by the Coldwell Banker La Costa office in Puerto Vallarta and leaving it to the attention of 'Irma Tromlitz'.
3. Sending or dropping a check by the Punta Mita Discovery Center to my attention.
It would also be very helpful to me in following-up with the deposits and receipts if you could drop me a short email indicating the amount, the donor and the receipt date requested. This will help me in following up with the receipts.
Last year you helped us raise almost $35,000 USD - let's see if we can better that by a wide margin this year!
Happy Holidays! Brock Squire - Punta Mita Discovery Center
