The Color of Words at Sol y Luna
email this pageprint this pageemail usPVNN

For more information, call Sol y Luna~Arte sin Fronteras at 222-1302 or visit the website at solylunapv.com.
Due to the great success of Lena Bartula's amazing art show "The Color of Words," which opened at Sol y Luna~Arte sin Fronteras on January 12th, her show has been extended. Don't miss your chance to meet this talented artist at an encore cocktail reception on Friday, February 2nd from 6-10 pm at Sol y Luna Art Gallery.

Lena Bartula's career has taken her on a journey to many different mediums of expression, including clothing design, furniture building and poetry. Her paintings invoke her quest to celebrate the sacred in the ordinary.

Bartula's layers are as textured and colorful as her life, with images that range in expression from exuberant movement and joyful play to serene harmony. Words are used in their original form as symbols as well as a bridge to deeper meaning.

Lena began exhibiting her work in group shows in 1977 and had her first solo exhibition in 1982 in Oklahoma. She has shown in places as diverse as Corrales, New Mexico; Oceanside, California; Columbus, Ohio; Marquette, Missouri and Galveston, Texas to the European cities of Milan, Italy and Gordes, France.

Her love of Mexico has drawn her here again and again. She has exhibited her work in Guadalajara, Guanajuato and San Miguel de Allende. The influence of Mexico is evident in the vibrant colors and Spanish words painted on her recent works, which you can see this month here in Puerto Vallarta at Galeria Sol y Luna.

In the past, Lena Bartula has changed acts of destruction into creativity. When her gallery had a fire in 1998, she mixed the ashes into gesso to create new paintings. Then, in 2004, after books were vandalized at the San Francisco library, she participated in a project to transform them into art pieces.

Lena has traveled the world to bring us her dream of transformation, to share her awareness of the Mystery diffused through all things, and the joy she takes in the act of creation.

This special art exhibition has been curated by the owner and director of Sol y Luna Art Gallery, Alejandro Baez, who has been in the Art Business for a decade in Mexico and USA. Lena Bartula's One Woman Show, "The Color of Words," will be on display at Sol y Luna through February 8th.

You can also admire Lena Bartula's artwork and the other 14 artists that Alejandro represents at the following locations:

Rosa Mexicano Interior Design Studio inside Neptuno Plaza at Marina Vallarta, Casa Cupula Boutique Hotel, Acqua Day Spa & Gym and La Galleria del Buen Gusto Italian Restaurant.
