email this pageprint this pageemail usHuliq.com

Mariachi is the sum of a cultural revolution, encompassing the essence of Mexico with elaborate costumes, rhythmic dancing and patriotic values.
The popularity of Mariachi music is on the rise on a global scale. From the acclaimed "M" in Las Vegas and the Hollywood Bowl Mariachi Festival to Mariachis from Japan, the Mariachi phenomenon knows no bounds.

While Mariachi music is enjoyed on a global scale, many people don't know much about its origin, but it was actually in Guadalajara, Mexico's second largest city, where Mariachi music was created.

The meaning of the word “Mariachi” itself has long been debated by musicologists and folklorists alike, but there’s no disputing the fact that this often-imitated, yet uniquely Mexican art form, is one of the true defining characteristics of Mexico’s diverse culture.

This timeless Mexican tradition goes beyond influential music - Mariachi is the sum of a cultural revolution, encompassing the essence of Mexico with elaborate costumes, rhythmic dancing and patriotic values. Discover its complex origins, its distinctive musical elements, and above all, its deep-rooted significance to the people of Mexico.
