Puerto Vallarta - Since it's beginning in 1961, thousands of young students in the Banderas Bay area have completed their educational goals with the economic and moral support provided by the members of the America-Mexico Foundation (AMF).
This non-profit organization, comprised of American, Mexican and Canadian members, raises money to send as many local students as possible to Junior High, Senior High and through University.
The ever growing number of deserving kids plus the ever increasing costs of providing education, uniforms, shoes and school supplies is a huge challenge, and the annual Becas Ball is an example of how generous community-wide support can be rewarding to all of those involved.
Every year in March, the AMF hosts the Becas Ball, a dinner dance where the proceeds from ticket sales, a raffle, and a silent auction are donated to make a positive change in the lives of the young people of Vallarta.
Although previously scheduled to take place on Saturday, March 10th, due to unforseen circumstances, this year's Becas Ball has been rescheduled for Friday, March 9th, 2007 at the Westin Hotel.
Those who are familiar with the annual Becas Ball know that it is one of the major sources of income for the AMF scholarship program, and the closest thing Puerto Vallarta has to a formal "High Society" event.
For those who are newcomers, it should be pointed out that this is perhaps the only opportunity during Puerto Vallarta's high season to dress up in your finest evening wear. You'll be amazed how people you have only gotten to know clad in their beach clothes are tranformed into glamorous creatures on this night.
Don't miss the 2007 Becas Ball on Friday, March 9th at the Westin Hotel in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico. Becas Ball Committeee members are already at work making sure that this year's event will continue the great tradition of making the Becas Ball the "social event" of the season!
