Bringing Artists and Patrons Together
email this pageprint this pageemail usPVNN

A new art exhibit by Yelapa Artist Philippo LoGrande, "Los Monumentos Vallartense de LoGrande" opens at Galeria Octavio on February 24th at 8 pm.

Best known for his monumental bronze sculpture "Vallarta's Whale" at the entrance of Marina Vallarta, sculptor Octavio Gonzalez also brings artists and patrons together by hosting art parties at his downtown art gallery, Galeria Octavio, on the last Saturday of every month.

This month, Octavio and his staff will be featuring sculptures by bronze artists Jordan Van Sewell, Jose Manuel Lino, Pepe Gutierrez, Patti Salinas and new works by Octavio himself, in addition to a selection of paintings by Yelapa artist Philippo LoGrande in a show entitled "Los Monumentos Vallartense de LoGrande."

Trained in Italy, Philippo is a gifted artist - and a familiar face around town. Every Saturday, LoGrande exhibits his art at the Arte Malecón, where the sculptures that line this oceanfront walkway in downtown Puerto Vallarta inspired his latest collection of paintings.

"I have been painting on the Malecón for the past three years, watching how the people interact with the sculptures. Everything around them is in motion... the sea, the sky, the people, yet the monuments remain unchanging. It is reassuring to think that the kids who are climbing on them today will one day return - it will be like visiting an old friend," LoGrande said.

"Los Monumentos Vallartense de LoGrande" will be on exhibit at the gallery from Feb 24th-March 30th. Whether you are an aficionado or an amateur collector, one thing is for sure, an eclectic mix of new and old friends, art and artists will come together at Galeria Octavio, 1115 Ave. Mexico, on February 24th at 8 pm.
