Latin America's biggest and brashest rock festival "Vive Latino" opened in Mexico City last Saturday, featuring performances by Mexican rock star Alex Lora and "El Tri", Argentine singer Gustavo Cerati, and Venezuelan ska band "Desorden Publico."

Some fifty-thousand young rockers screamed and danced at the Eighth Annual "Vive Latino" Rock Festival which drew 34 of the region's most popular bands.

Mexican rock legend Alex Lora and his band "El Tri" kicked off the event with hits like "Ado" and "Triste Cancion".

Next was one of Latin America's most famous artists, Argentine singer Gustavo Cerati, a real favorite with the fans.

Cerati fan Monica Suarez said, "I have been to the last three 'Vive Latino' festivals without missing one and Gustavo Cerati is a p t who write and makes arrangements."

The evening culminated with the Venezuelan ska band "Desorden Publico". Started in 1985, "Desorden Publico" is Latin America's longest-running ska band, well-known for singing in several different languages and their political lyrics.
