Flight Attendants End Two-Day Strike at Click Mexicana Associated Press go to original
Mexico City Flight attendants at low-cost airline Click Mexicana ended a two-day strike Monday after reaching an agreement on wages and other conditions.
In a news release, Click said the company agreed to pay a wage increase of 1 percentage point above inflation, and an extra guaranteed day off per month.
This agreement represents a major effort for Click Mexicana, as market conditions require it to become more efficient and competitive in order to maintain its profitability, the carrier said.
A spokesman for the flight attendants union said the deal includes a 4.74 percent wage increase taking effect Dec. 1, and gives flight attendants four guaranteed days off each month, up from three.
Mexico's inflation is expected to be 3.85 percent this year and 3.87 percent in 2008, according to the Bank of Mexico's most recent survey of private sector analysts.
The company said Friday that the strike would affect 112 flights and approximately 7,000 passengers per day. |
