Cancun, Acapulco Offering Affordable Options for Business Travelers Jeremy Schwartz - Austin American-Statesman go to original
Mexico City — Traveling to a beach resort on business can make for a depressing — and expensive — outing.
For years, business travelers to Acapulco and Cancún had two choices: pay through the nose for big resort hotels or take their chances with cheap, down-market hotels that have never heard of a business center.
But recently some reasonably priced options have finally opened up in both places:
In Cancún: Courtyard by Marriot has opened just a few miles from the Cancún Airport. At less than $100 for a single, it's the best value in town, and you won't have to hoof it out to the mega-pricey hotel zone or even further into the city of Cancún. Rooms come with free Internet access.
In Acapulco: The One Hotels chain has just opened a branch on famed Costera boulevard a few hundred feet from the bay. With prices around $70 per night, it's a great value compared with the large resorts on either side. The rooms are small and simple (and include free Internet access), but the hotel is clean and safe. The chain, which is operated by the hoteliers behind Fiesta Americana, have cheap, business-friendly hotels in many Mexican cities including Monterrey and Mexico City. |
