Puerto Vallarta was home to the sixth edition of Meeting Place Mexico, MPM, Mexico’s meetings and incentives marketplace.

On June 1-3rd, the fair, which brought together meeting and incentive planners, showcased the venues and facilities available for corporate conventions. The event was coordinated by Mundo Editorial, editor and publisher of the trade magazines of Mexico: “Convenciones”, “Weekly de Convenciones” and ”Giros”, as well as “Avanti - Meetings & Incentives”. It was also supported by the Secretary of Tourism and the Mexico Tourism Board.

Attendees participated in seminars on how to conduct business and find solutions when organizing events in Mexico, how to host meetings on a one-on-one basis with buyers and destination representatives and take advantage of Puerto Vallarta as a destination as well as other Mexican destinations.

Businesses all over the world consider Mexico as a main destination to host their meetings, seminars, conventions, fairs and expositions. Mexico has an infrastructure that offers world class services for groups of over 1000 participants, but is welcoming for more intimate groups as well. Its venues are equipped with top-level audiovisual technology and highly qualified personnel offering simultaneous translation, secretarial services, and logistical support for events of all kinds.

International meetings, conventions, exhibitions and fairs in Mexico are also exempt from the country’s 15 percent sales tax. As of January 2004, venue rental, lodging, airport/seaport/border transfers, and trips between hotels and meeting places are tax free. Also covered are related event services such as set-up, registration, masters of ceremonies, translators, hosts, audiovisual equipment, decoration, security and cleaning. All related services contracted up to two nights before and two nights after an event are eligible for the tax waiver.
