The program includes resort-wide conservation initiatives, use of sustainable sources of food products, healthy meeting options and even fun eco-friendly group activities.
CasaMagna Marriott Puerto Vallarta’s “Puerto Vallarta Green” is taking action by instituting hotel-wide programs that save energy, water and paper. The resort carries out reuse linen and towel programs for guests staying multiple nights, recycles rain water for garden irrigation, provides menus on-line to save paper, and recycles aluminum, iron and engine oil.
In efforts to contribute to Puerto Vallarta’s economy, CasaMagna Marriott uses local brands of bottled water, wine and cheese. By doing this, the resort reduces the amount of pollution released into the air transporting imported brand name products. In addition, CasaMagna Marriott purchases their food supply from certified organic food sources, Bioagricert and IFOAM, assuring quality and freshness of ingredients used for food preparations at the resort.
To encourage healthier eating habits at meetings, CasaMagna Marriott is introducing a Power Break for attendees, which provides a great source of nutrition and energy. Nutri-grain granola bars, bran and carrot muffins, low fat individual flavored yogurts, pita points with hummus and tomato confit, dried fruits and nuts, a display of whole fruit and freshly prepared peach and strawberry smoothies are some of the Power Break offerings.
For meeting attendees looking for a more hands-on option to help save the environment, CasaMagna Marriott offers meeting groups the opportunity to plant a tree at the end of their retreat. Tree planting is a bonding experience and business people will work together during the tree planting process.
Meeting groups are also encouraged to step away from their work and take part in a unique educational, and eco-friendly vacation experience through its “Secretos del Mar” Sea Turtle Rescue Program. During June through December breeding season, guests are encouraged to help in combing the beach so the mother turtles have a groomed surface on which to lay their eggs. Eggs are harvested and placed in a protected area for incubation. Approximately 45 days later, the hatchlings emerge from the sand and are ready to be released on the beach, with the aid of the recreational staff and the resort guests.
CasaMagna features more than 9,000 square feet of flexible indoor meeting and function space for groups of 15 to 1,100. With the clear blue waters of the Banderas Bay serving as a scenic backdrop to parties and outdoor functions, the resort also offers several memorable alfresco settings for groups. Whether under a tent, the sun or the stars, there are seven impressive outdoor areas for functions to accommodate groups from 100 to 1,600 people.
