First published in 2000, Fierce Invalids Home From Hot Climates is Tom Robbins' seventh and longest novel, will be featured at the San Miguel Summer Literary Festival, August 19-21, 2008

Tom Robbins, the wildly popular, iconic author of eight novels including his classics Even Cowgirls Get the Blues, Another Roadside Attraction, Still Life with Woodpecker and Jitterbug Perfume, will be featuring his seventh and longest novel, Fierce Invalids Home From Hot Climates at the San Miguel Authors’ Sala first Summer Literary Festival, August 19-21, 2008.

Tom Robbins, whose novels are complex, often wild stories with strong social undercurrents, a satirical bent, and obscure details, rarely appears in public, but is looking forward very much to this four-day event, an unusual opportunity for you to spend both formal and informal time with him.

The three-day Festival will feature a rare public address by Tom Robbins; a workshop for writers entitled "Teaching a Sentence to Sing;" an on-stage book group; a tell-all presentation by Tom Robbins’s editor Alan Rinzler about what it was like for him to work with Hunter Thompson, Toni Morrison, Shirley MacLaine, Andy Warhol, Nora Ephron and a host of other famous authors; plus dinners, receptions, a coffee-in-the-country at one of San Miguel’s most extraordinary houses, and much more.

For a complete schedule of events, pricing, special packages, and to register for the festival, visit SanMiguelAuthors.com.
