Tonight, beginning at 7 pm, Puerto Vallarta will pay tribute to Jalisco artist Alejandro Colunga, whose eight-sculpture series of bronze chairs, La Rotonda del Mar, grace Puerto Vallarta's Malecon.
This special "Art Walk" begins in downtown Puerto Vallarta on Calle Morelos between Galeana and 31 de octubre, (which will be closed to traffic during the event) where banners have been hung with photos depicting the master's works, giving everyone the opportunity to learn more about this talented artist.
Born in Guadalajara in 1948, Alejandro studied Architecture from 1967 to 1971 and Music and Tourism from 1971-1973, but is a self-taught artist, painter and sculptor. When one thinks of Mexican artists of the 20th century, Alejandro Colunga is always on that list. Come and see why he has gained international acclaim as one of a talented generation of visionaries.
The walk will culminate at 8 pm at La Rotonda del Mar sculpture (on the Malecón in front of Las Palomas), where an homage will be given to honor the Mexican painter and sculptor, Alejandro Colunga Marín. After the ceremony, the artist collective Psico Circus will present a spectacular musical performance that includes música africana, marimba, música cubana and a multi-media video presentation, and area restaurants will offer cocktails for your enjoyment.

El evento comenzará en la calle Morelos entre Galeana y 31 de octubre a las 7 de la tarde. Se exhibirán banners con fotografías de la obra del maestro Alejandro Colunga a lo largo de la calle Morelos (que será cerrada para que podamos realizar la caminata) y poder tener la oportunidad de conocer más de la obra plástica del artista, ya que en su mayoría pertenece a colecciones privadas y museos.
La caminata culminará en las esculturas del Maestro Colunga 'Rotonda del Mar' (en el Malecón frente a Las Palomas) a las 8 p.m. donde se realizará el acto oficial.
El colectivo de artistas Psico Circus presentará su espectáculo de música y performance; habrá música africana, marimba, música cubana, proyecciones de video. Además, los restaurantes de la zona brindarán cocteles y aperitivos.
