| Ricardo Montalban dies Wednesday at 88. | | Mexican born actor Ricardo Montalban has died at the age of 88. As reported by the Associated Press, Montalban died at his home Wednesday from age related complications.
Candy Spelling, whose late husband Aaron Spelling created the hit show “Fantasy Island” which starred Montalban, is quoted as stating, “He was so gracious, and Aaron was always humbled by Ricardo’s gratitude for ‘Fantasy Island... I miss him already, and wish his family well.”
As noted by the AP, Montalban was a Mexican movie star before he was brought to Hollywood by MGM in 1946. He later starred in films such as “Fiesta,” “The King and I,” and “Star Trek: The Wrath of Khan.” His most recognized role was that of Mr. Roake in the top rated television series “Fantasy Island” which continues to air in syndication since ending.
Montalban had four children with late wife Georgiana Young, and is also survived by his six grandchildren. |
