Canadian Composition to be Performed in March Chamber Orchestra Concert

Prepare for an evening of musical treats on March 15 at the American School when the Vallarta Chamber Orchestra presents its Spring Concert. One of these treats will be a performance of Hinemoa and Tutanekai by John Robertson, a Canadian composer and arranger. This composition features the string section and local flautist, d'Rachael.
John Robertson was born in New Zealand where he began his study of music with three years of his post secondary training being in music. He moved to Canada in 1967 and took a three year course at the Royal Conservatory of Music in Toronto. Although his career was not in music, composing has been a life long passion.
Mr. Robertson has had his compositions performed about thirty times, including four times by the Puerto Vallarta Chamber Orchestra. Since first becoming associated with the orchestra, numerous pieces have been arranged by Mr. Robertson to suit the orchestras specific instrumentation.
The same concert also features local bassoon player, Emilia Torres who will play the first movement of the J.C. Bach Bassoon Concerto. The very talented, Ms. Torres has been a member of the orchestra for four years.
Filling out the program are works by Beethoven, Bach, Verdi and Grieg. Truly there will be something for everyone in this magical evening of music. The concert begins at 8 pm.
