International and Domestic Tourism Remains Strong Vallarta Opina
| Mexico Director of Tourism Miguel Gomez Mont | | Mexico's Director of National Touristic Promotion, Miguel Gomez Mont, affirmed that even with the present financial crisis and the insecurity in some Mexican cities, the domestic and foreign tourism index has remained unchanged.
According to this Federal functionary, the country has become more attractive to all visitors, and this is why Mexico still holds the number eight position worldwide as a touristic destination, regaining preference from Hawaii in the United States and the Caribbean.
However, he said, there are other countries that are "fighting dirty" and carrying on smear campaigns against Mexico in order to accrue more international visitors. Some of these "campaigns" against Mexico say that you cannot find sun nor nice beaches in this beautiful country, this is a "dirty war" that we now have to face, said Gomez Mont.
Mexico occupies number one in archeological and natural resources, and number four as a World Heritage, besides its 11 months of good weather.
He also mentioned that organized crime is not near our touristic zones nor at our beaches, and this is why, up until now, no tourist has been hurt in our beloved city. Even with the very difficult economical situation in the world, the tourism levels have significantly increased to the point that in the last couple of weeks some Puerto Vallarta hotels registered an occupancy of 100%.
It is because we are a beautiful country, and with the parity between Peso and Dollar we have become cheaper and therefore more attractive to visitors from all over the world. We provide our visitors with the best service and the biggest smile and this is why they keep coming to us instead of other tourist destinations in the world.
