| For more information about HIV, testing, counseling, and risk reduction programs in the Banderas Bay area, visit VallartaEnfrentaSida.org or call (322) 223-0535. | | Puerto Vallarta - On Friday, March 27th, Ms. FiFi de Niz celebrated her first anniversary as the Emcee/entertainer at Club Stereo. She wanted to make it a night to remember, so she contacted V.E.S. and asked if they could put on a night for AIDS education and awareness.
Vallarta Enfrenta el SIDA Executive Director Francisco "Paco" Arjona and the famous VES Condoneras went right to work to make Ms. Fifi's celebration special. They arrived at club Stereo at 10 pm dressed to the Nines and loaded down with information about safe sex and getting tested for HIV antibodies, along with lots of condoms and lube.
At one point in the night, Paco took over the "mic" and explained what VES does and how they perform the HIV antibody rapid test, which gives you results in just 20 minutes. He also explained that at their walk-in office, located in downtown Puerto Vallarta at Hidalgo #457, VES administers tests every day from 10 am to 6 pm and no appointment is necessary.
As the night went on there was a raffle for movie tickets and lots of other wonderful prizes. All the proceeds from the raffle were donated to VES. It is great to see that people are willing to get educated (and hopefully tested,) and that local businesses know that VES is always willing to participate in any and all venues that are willing to help educate our community.
We at VES would like to congratulate Ms .FiFi on her anniversary, and thank the staff at Stereo for allowing us to "do our thing." It was a great and memorable night for us. Puerto Vallarta's HIV/AIDS non-profit organization, Vallarta Enfrenta el SIDA, and CAPASITS, work together to provide high-quality medical care, counseling and psychological support, education and prevention programs, and outreach to at-risk communities in the Banderas Bay area.
