Puerto Vallarta - The April 4th fundraiser at Villa Mandarinas was a huge success, raising approximately $140,000 pesos for 'Sally’s Corner' at the Biblioteca los Mangos.

Says Gabriela Garcia, hostess and organizer of the event and also owner of the Villa with her architect husband, Alberto Alvarez, “My goal was to sell 160 tickets, which I thought would be the number of guests we could request food and drink donations for. I didn’t want to turn anyone down, so we actually sold 180 tickets to the event. I’m thrilled with the success of the evening and grateful that it raised monies needed to complete Sally’s Corner.”

Guests entering the gorgeous Villa Mandarinas in Mismaloya were dazzled not only by the villa, but by the view of the beautiful Bay and Los Arcos. To the background of the smooth sounds of a terrific saxophone player, Manuel Clavijo, a mother whale and her calf elicited yelps of joy as some of the last Graybacks still in Vallarta breached in the water below.

The buffet dinner was a combined effort of many of Puerto Vallarta’s finest and most popular restaurants, which donated a variety of delicious dishes that were served at the dining room level. On the garden level one floor down, guests enjoyed tasty and typical Mexican cuisine. Drinks flowed on three different levels of the villa, and Joe “King” Carrasco and the MexiCubanos played the irresistible music for dancing.

Spotted in the exuberant crowd:

Polly Vicars; Jean Pierre Renucci; Paco Ojeda; Carlos Osuna Penn; Carolyn and Bob Lamb; Connie and Ed Vincent; Marc Murphy; Marc Callanan; Casey and Keith Lupton; Donna and Irv Readerman; Vicky and Tom Mason; Chickie Alter, etc.

In addition to the silent auction, there were only two live auction items. Chickie Alter was the high bidder for the three-night stay for 14 at the Villa Mandarinas and Alberto Alvarez was the high bidder for two nights at Four Seasons Resort at Punta de Mita. After all their work on this event, he and his wife Gabriela, deserve a special treat!

Thanks to the April 4th fundraiser and the generosity and efforts in which so many people and businesses participated, "Sally’s Corner," dedicated to the irrepressible Sally Conley, will be able to be completed in the very near future.
