An Art School run by art professionals has finally been opened in La Cruz de Huanacaxtle. El Centro Cultural de Bellas Artes Riviera Nayarit offers classes for children and adults in drawing and painting, fabric painting, penmanship, pastel, papier mache and Mexican arts and crafts. In addition to professional drawing and painting classes and intensive Summer art courses for ages 5-90, the center, also known as Crearte, will offer cultural tourism expeditions to places of interest both locally and throughout Mexico, as well as art restoration and Reiki workshops. Four week Summer art courses run from July 20th to August 14, 2009 with classes for teens, adults and seniors from 10 am to 12 noon, and classes for children ages 5-10 from 4-6 pm (Jalisco time.) In both age categories, there are two courses to choose from: • A semi-intensive 24 hour course (2 hours a day, 3 days a week,) for $1400 pesos + $500 pesos for registration and materials • An intensive 40 hour course (2 hours a day, 5 days a week,) for $1800 pesos + $500 pesos for registration and materials El Centro Cultural de Bellas Artes Riviera Nayarit is located at Monte Calvario 5 in La Cruz de Huanacaxtle, Nayarit. If you are coming from Bucerias, follow the Riviera Nayarit Marina La Cruz signs, and before you get to the only stoplight turn right (by the paint shop.)
