Riviera Nayarit, Mexico - For the first time, the Half Marathon is running through Nuevo Vallarta on Sunday, October 25, 2009. Marathon runners from all over the world will have a chance to visit Nuevo Vallarta and will be treated to Mexico’s beautiful Pacific coastline and world-class hotel properties along the route. Come for the event, but afterwards, relax and rejuvenate in Riviera Nayarit, Mexico’s newest destination!
The event is spearheaded by DX3, a sporting events organization endorsed by the Mexican Confederacy of Athletics. According to the event organizers, “The goal of the event it to blend sport participation and tourism with the vision to strengthen Mexico’s sporting presence at the international level.”
The event will take place along the main avenues of the beautiful Nuevo Vallarta Resort Area. Organizers hope to promote tourism in the region by designing the route so that runners pass by key destinations in Riviera Nayarit. Competitors will view the pristine Pacific coastline and run by a multitude of hotel properties including the Grand Velas, Vallarta Palace, and the Paradise Village Golf Course and Marina.
The Half Marathon welcomes both men and women from all age groups. Prizes will be awarded to the top three finishers in each group. The outdoor recreational opportunities do not end there as visitors to Riviera Nayarit can explore other nature and adventure driven activities including jungle canopy zip-lining tours, foothill tours of the Sierra Madre Mountains, swimming with dolphins, and water sports along the region’s 192 miles of coastline.
