Entrepreneur Starts Spanish Immersion Surfing Camp Business in Sayulita Terry Richard - Oregonian go to original February 24, 2010
A Bend, Oregon woman wants to treat your kids to Mexico.
Karinda Boone is opening a Spanish Immersion Surf Camp at Sayulita, Mexico, on the Pacific shore about 25 miles north of Puerto Vallarta.
Cost is $1,350 for 10 days (plus $400 for airfare). Camp attendees will get surfing lessons from professional instructors in the morning, conversational Spanish language classes in the afternoon at the international school, as well as other authentic experiences around the coastal village.
She is planning four sessions this summer of 10 days each for children ages 10 to 17, followed by a session for up to 18 college-age students.
Sayulita is well-known among Bend snowboarders, who mix their time on Mt. Bachelor's powder with Sayulita's waves. They have even organized a group named the Bend Surf Club.
