Vallarta Chamber Orchestra Season Finale PVNN March 03, 2010
| The Vallarta Chamber Orchestra will be playing their final concert of the season at the Puerto Vallarta American School on Sunday, March 21, 2010 at 8 pm. For more information, email vallartachamberorchestra(at)gmail.com. | | The Puerto Vallarta Chamber Orchestra literally has talent from all four corners of the globe; from Europe to Asia, from North America to "down under." Key among the membership is John Robertson; second chair Clarinet and composer/music arranger "par excellence."
John was born in New Zealand and immigrated to Canada over 40 years ago. There he studied composition at the Royal Conservatory in Toronto. His skills and talents are a strategic part of each and every concert performed by the Vallarta Chamber Orchestra, and his craft is truly the "bedrock" for the orchestra’s final performance of the season, Sunday, March 21st.
The featured soloist for the evening, Vallarta’s own Mary MacLachlan, violinist, will be accompanied by the orchestra in her performance of Felix Borowski’s Adoration. The composition was originally written for violin and piano, but, thanks to John Robertson, the piano accompaniment has been orchestrated; elevating the lushness and warmth of the entire composition.
Additionally, the March 21st program includes a Robertson's exposé, borrowing themes from the rich musical culture of Mexico in a composition entitled, Mexican Fantasy. Other composers of note; Mozart, Schubert and Aaron Copland round out the program ... clearly Robertson keeps good company!
The concert is at the American School / Colegio Americano on Sunday, March 21, 2010 at 8 pm. Tickets for this outdoor concert are available at the door. $100 pesos per person / students free. Please email any questions you might have to vallartachamberorchestra(at)gmail.com. |
