Restaurant Week Returns to Vallarta Paco Ojeda - Vallarta Lifestyles May 06, 2010
| Puerto Vallarta Tourism Board PR Coordinator Nora Ocegueda (L) Daiquiri Dick's Restaurant Owner Tari Bowman (C) and Vallarta Lifestyles Managing Editor, Paco Ojeda at the May 5th Restaurant Week press conference. | | Vallarta Lifestyles Publishing Group organized the first Vallarta Lifestyles’ Restaurant Week six years ago to encourage visitors and locals to get to know Puerto Vallarta’s broad range of culinary experiences. The invitation lives on. "Restaurant Week" events are quite popular in many important cities throughout the world, such as New York, London, Washington and Boston, among others, a fact that allowed the local version to quickly win the hearts of its followers.
Restaurant Week in Puerto Vallarta is structured very much like it is in other cities (a three-course menu, three choices per course, at a fixed price — in our case, two price options, $189 and $299 pesos per person), making it a favorite among visitors and locals.
The constant monitoring of online discussion boards, websites, along with questionnaires answered by restaurant owners, reveal that an increasing number of visitors now travel to our destination specifically during Restaurant Week dates (May 15 - 31) in order to be part of this popular celebration, thus bringing some respite to restaurant owners during a time of year that traditionally heralds a slower season due to Puerto Vallarta’s summer weather.
Of the 31 restaurants participating in Vallarta Lifestyles’ Restaurant Week, six are doing so for the first time, bringing their own unique take and cuisine to the already varied offering: AmapaSunset will feature their contemporary cuisine; Blanca Blue will be, without a doubt, an elegant choice; Hacienda de Oro at the Botanical Gardens, will surely welcome many new visitors to this popular attraction; La Albufera will feature their Spanish cuisine, while Los Chilaquiles will feature their Mexican menu. Finally, Madison South Bar & Grill at Casa Isabel will offer a spectacular view, very similar to Vista Grill’s, but at the lower price option.
