Summer Music Workshops and Concerts at Biblioteca Los Mangos

From July 12 to August 6, 2010 Biblioteca Los Mangos will offer music workshops to all those willing to develop a closer understanding of music – for children (minimum age 6), teens and adults!
These will be held Monday to Friday from 2 to 7 pm, with three weekly group sessions (for a total of 12) and two individual weekly sessions (for a total of eight). Violin, cello, piano, drums, percussion, canto and acoustic bass will be taught as specialty subjects, and harmony, music theory, choir and music appreciation as common subjects.
Concerts will also be performed by the teachers and there will be master classes, Mexican music concerts and music appreciation classes aimed at adults.
Materials: Ideally the students should bring their own instruments, otherwise they are encouraged to try the teachers' instruments as an incentive to acquire a taste for playing them. Students should bring a ruled paper book, a notebook, pen and pencil and a musical instrument, except for the piano and drums. Students without an instrument should point this out in their registration forms. Musical teaching material is provided for the course.
Teaching Staff: Alejandro Villarreal - piano, music appreciation, music theory and history of music; Porrua Lenia Arocha - violin for children; José María García Navarro - violin for young adults; Nancy Uzi Garcia - cello; Daniel Lopez - drums and percussion; Fabiola Aguirre - canto, bell canto, opera, vocalization, choral ensembles; and Carlos Ramos - bass.

Open to the general public. Admission: adults $70 pesos - Children $50 pesos
Opening Concert - Friday, July 9 at 7 pm in the Benefactors' Room - performed by all teaching staff.
Piano Recital - Tuesday, July 13 at 6 pm in the Carlos Munguia Fregoso Room - performed by Alejandro Villarreal.
Violin and Piano Recital - Thursday, July 15 at 6 pm in the Carlos Munguia Fregoso Room - performed by Alejandro Villarreal and José María García.
Teachers' Concert - Friday, July 16 at 7 pm in the Carlos Munguia Fregoso Room - performed by all teaching staff.
Jazz Concert - Tuesday, July 20 at 6 pm in the Carlos Munguia Fregoso Room.
Cello and Piano Recital - Thursday, July 22 at 6 pm in the Carlos Munguia Fregoso Room - performed by guest cellist José Ramón Serrano and Alejandro Villarreal on piano.
Voice and Piano Recital - Friday, July 23 at 7 pm in the Carlos Munguia Fregoso Room performed by soprano Fabiola Aguirre and Alejandro Villarreal.
Teachers' Recital - Friday, July 30 at 7 pm in the Carlos Munguia Fregoso Room - performed by all teaching staff.
Final Concert by Students and Teachers - Friday, August 6 at 7 pm in the Carlos Munguia Fregoso Room.
