| Fourteen cultural images, in black & white and color, are part of the photographic exhibition at the Naval History Museum of Puerto Vallarta through October 15th. | | Since its opening in November of 2006, the Puerto Vallarta Navy Museum and Naval Historical Center has been dedicated to exhibiting and preserving Mexico's history and culture.
As part of this year's Mexican historical and cultural program, Fotoseptiembre, sponsored by La Conferencia Nacional de Instituciones Municipales de Cultura, the Naval Museum is featuring a special photo exhibition entitled Lagos de Moreno, Ciudad Patrimonio del Centenario, which features the photographic works of Rodrigo Vázquez, through October 15, 2010.
This unique photographic exhibition features fourteen cultural images, in black & white and color, spotlighting the Villa of Santa Maria de los Lagos and Jalisco's greatest treasure - its people.
Fotoseptiembre, organized by the National Conference of Municipal Cultural Institutions, is part of a national effort that aims to support the promotion and management of the hundreds of municipalities within the Mexican Republic.
They are also concerned about the intermingling of actions among its members and the managing authorities of the Secretary of the Navy.
Highlights of the exposition are images of El Barrendero de la Plaza (The Sweeper of the Square), the noble German pianist Alla von Buck, summer residents of the village, and one of the last Don Antionio del Aguila treasures, the descendant of Tlaxcaltec nobility artisans.
It will also be difficult to escape the eyes of the Comanja mechanic and not to be surprised by the portrait of two Capuchin nuns, opting for a vow of silence.
Demarcation Laguense Cultural Director, Lic. Eduardo Mata Márquez, was present during the exhibit's inauguration ceremony, accompanied by Tte. Castorena, who was responsible for welcoming the other cultural representatives of the municipalities of Puerto Vallarta and Banderas Bay, Professor Enrique Barrios and C. Edgar D. Treviño.
Also in attendance was CONAIMOC National Coordinator, C. Oswald M. Labatto, who stressed the importance of these exchanges between the various members of the country's art and national cultures, citing "culture, as well as education and health, is a right of the citizens, and the governments are obliged to comply."
It should be noted that Lagos de Moreno, the second most important city in the State of Jalisco, is a city of national heritage in an appointment by the INAH, due to its conservation and artistic value. Also noted are the more than 400 historic buildings, some from the 16th Century, and many of the farms of the region were included in Camino Real of Tierra Adentro, Cultural Heritage of Humanity, acknowledged by UNESCO.
Located next to the Los Arcos Amphitheater on the Malecon in downtown Puerto Vallarta, the museum is open to the public Tuesday through Sunday from 10 am to 5 pm. |
