Inauguration Of The New Bridge Connecting Riviera Nayarit With Puerto Vallarta RivieraNayarit.com go to original December 13, 2010
| Nayarit Governor Ney Gonzalez and the head of the SCT, Juan Molinar Horcasitas presided over the opening ceremony. | | On Wednesday, December 8, the Ameca I northbound bridge connecting Riviera Nayarit with Puerto Vallarta was reopened to traffic. The original bridge had collapsed on August 31 due to a series of heavy storms. The inauguration took place during a small ceremony presided by Governor Ney Gonzalez and by the head of the Department of Communications and Transportation (SCT by its initials in Spanish), Juan Molinar Horcasitas.
The bridge spans a total of 2,624 feet, out of which 200 were rebuilt with a cost of 82 million pesos that were supplied entirely by the Federal Government.
It's important to mention that the communication between the two tourist destinations was never severed, as the Ameca II Bridge, which is normally used for southbound traffic, was immediately enabled to carry traffic in both directions.
The rebuilding of this bridge will contribute to a better traffic flow this holiday season, and was possible because of the joint work of Ney Gonzalez, the SCT and the governments of Jalisco and Puerto Vallarta, respectively.
The Convention and Visitors Bureau of Riviera Nayarit celebrates this accomplishment, which will allow for a better travel experience for all tourists that visit this region.
