The Boutique Theatre on the south side of Puerto Vallarta continues to be the venue for numerous and varied events - and the Vallarta town folk are thrilled! This past Thursday, "An Evening with Ellen Langer" was attended by a sell out crowd. Proceeds from this event were split between PuRR Project, the no-kill feline rescue shelter and our local SPCA-PV.
Dr. Langer, a well-known Harvard psychologist and writer, discussed 2 episodes of the BBC production, based on her book, Counterclockwise: Mindful Health and the Power of Possibility and how your health and youthfulness is affected by what you think...(so think good thoughts!)
It was fascinating to say the least and most all purchased either one or both of her books at the end of the lecture.(Dr. Langer is a part time resident of Vallarta - so don't be shy when you see her around town.)
PuRR Project made their presence outside of the theatre door with a variety of feline related goodies on their table - which was right next to the complementary mini wine bar, which welcomed guests before the event. Folks gathered - greeting one another as if Vallarta was still a small town.
Thanks to local real estate broker, Harriet Murray of Cochran Real estate, for putting this event together. Harriet says, "We are so pleased and grateful to have the opportunity to attend programs like Ellen's tonight. We need to "feed our minds" as well as our bodies."
Thanks to Nina Goodhope of "Cork+Bottle" (Fine wine and spirits) at "Los Mercados" on Aquiles Serdan Street #265 on the south side of Puerto Vallarta.
The Boutique Theatre is conveniently located in Old Town at Manuel M. Dieguez #321, 1 block south of Basilio Badillo, just off Constitution. Plenty of on street parking is available. Purr Project is a Non-Profit shelter in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico that provides homeless cats and kittens a recuperative stay with the ultimate goal to adopt them out to loving homes. All of our residents have been sterilized, vaccinated and are disease free. We accomplish this through our own efforts as well as collaboratively with other animal welfare organizations. Both monetary donations as well as donations of dry cat food are most welcome – and much appreciated. For more information, visit PurrProject.com.
The mission of SPCA de PV is to help fund and promote sterilization, adoption and healthcare efforts for companion animals in the Puerto Vallarta area, with the goal of eliminating the euthanasia of healthy and adoptable animals. Monies raised will support these various goals in ways that are most feasible within the community. For more information, visit spcapv.com.
