The 30th Biennial San Diego to Puerto Vallarta race, hosted by San Diego Yacht Club (SDYC), will be held March 1st – 10th, 2012.
Ricardo Brockmann’s RP52 Vincitore is the first entry for the 30th edition of the San Diego to Puerto Vallarta yacht race. At the other end of the spectrum is David Garman from Renton, WA who will be fulfilling a lifelong dream with a bunch of buddies aboard his Soverel 33 as a 50th birthday present from his wife. Also for the first time there will be a multi-hull class in the Puerto Vallarta race, H.L Enloe's LoeReal, a 60 foot trimaran is the first multi-hull entry.
For those who may have forgotten, the latest edition, held last spring, was sailed in record-setting conditions as the entire fleet set a blistering pace in the final third of the track from southern Baja across the Sea of Cortez into the Banderas Bay finish line.
The San Diego to Puerto Vallarta race hosted by San Diego Yacht Club is a biennial event which starts off San Diego’s Shelter Island and finishes off Punta Mita in beautiful Banderas Bay, Mexico. The conclusion of the 1000 mile race will be on the picturesque beaches of Nuevo Vallarta, just minutes north of Puerto Vallarta, where the racers and their families will enjoy world class resort accommodations.
The 22nd edition of the MEXORC (Mexican Ocean Racing Circuit) Regatta and the Regatta Copa Mexico will follow the 2012 San Diego to Puerto Vallarta race. MEXORC and the Regatta Copa Mexico are a joint effort between the Mexican Government and the Mexican Sailing Federation. It is a great international event in Banderas Bay (Puerto Vallarta and Nuevo Vallarta area) with seven days of racing over eight calendar days in one of the finest sailing venues in the world.
Entries received before May 31, 2011 will receive an early entry discount of $200 USD.
