Puerto Vallarta, Mexico - With soul, courage, great soccer playing and a spectacular comeback, Mexico reaffirmed the championship title of Gold Cup 2011 in the final, after beating the U.S. 4-2 in a dramatic match at the Rose Bowl, which saw a full house.
The goals of the victory were the work of Pablo Barrera, twice at 28 and 48 minutes, Andrés Guardado (36) and Giovani Dos Santos (76). The United States had gone to the front by Michael Bradley (7) and Landon Donovan (23).
Mexico has offered one of his greatest performances to rival with which it is forbidden to lose, after two serious negligence, the team showed that character and "Aztec blood" should always be left in the field, now merged with great performance by Paul Barrera and Giovani Dos Santos.
Perhaps this has been the weakest American team that has faced the "Tri" in recent years, and seemed more so than ever, just once more northern neighbors, without many football grounds, we took full advantage of the neglect and weaknesses of the visitors.
From the first minute, the pupils of José Manuel de la Torre made it clear which team was going to propose and seek victory, actually could end soon zero, only Javier Hernandez and Giovani Dos Santos did not go fine.
All the Stars and Stripes was completely different, as there was no foot in the penalty area, and the first ball it went ahead on the board.
The first premises fell into a corner from the right to near post, where Michael Bradley came forward to connect a header but reached Talavera slapping, could not prevent the fall of its frame.
This was a blow that pupils resented the "hump," who were bewildered and saw their goal was to punch the second time in a play in which Clint Dempsey ball filtered through the heart of central defense for Landon Donovan who, before the departure of Alfredo Talavera, well defined, at 23.
The picture was black, not just the score, but because De la Torre was forced to "burn" a change to replace Carlos Salcido, who was never recovered from the injury dragged to give minutes to Jorge Torres Nile.
Another change was "lost" when Rafael Marquez, soon after, had to give way for injury, for the entry of Hector Reynoso, the new entrants.
The "Tri" was more football and was finally able to reflect on the scoreboard to catch up in a great ball right filtered by Javier Hernandez at the arrival of Paul Barrera, who with his right hand caught a shot hit the left post at 28 minutes.
This score was a positive shot in every way and only eight minutes later the tie by Andrés Guardado, to go and rest. Mexico started the second half the same way it ended the first and so deserved it for others turned to the scoreboard by Barrera, who caught a forehand from the right satin, with effect, who beat Howard to put the 3 -2, at minute 49.
With the downside, the picture of Bob Bradley had to do something that is not used and what is not done, which is risk, so that the "Tri" had more space to exploit, but not before pulling a large scare with a shot of Dempsey, who blew the crossbar at 59 minutes.
After keeping his opponent at bay and avoid a tie, Mexico joined to give the final blow and ensure victory, and did so at the feet of Giovani Dos Santos, who taught what he can do when it focuses on what who knows. An excellent ball left filtering "Gio" inside the goal box, where it was removed to Howard, opened the space with one stone "bombeadito" put it in the top right corner to put the 4-2 final.
Thus, Mexico tied over a Gold Cup title, but not only that, but it seems that rightfully takes the nickname "Giant of CONCACAF."
