Puerto Vallara, Mexico - Since opening its gates in 2004, Vallarta Botanical Gardens has been a not-to-be-missed highlight of any trip to PV. But the 20 acres of native tropical plants even more beautiful in the summer, and there are plenty of special events to keep you entertained.
Thursday, July 14 - Mexican Arbor Day
Mexican Arbor Day is the perfect time to help us with our native tree reforestation campaign in the Agave Hills area of the Gardens. We can always use a hand planting a tree! We also have memorial tree opportunities available, if you’d like to dedicate a tree to someone special in your family or circle of friends. Pitch in at any time during the day.
Thursday, July 14 - Pennies 4 Parrots Meeting
We are very happy to let you know that the protective group Parrots International, with the Canadian Parrot Conference, chose “Macaws Forever” for their 2011 focus. Join us at the Gardens to generate support for this project and disseminate information about the need for conservation, education, protection of nests, monitoring of habitats, and more. We are meeting at 12:00 pm.
Thursday, July 21 - Teachers’ Workshop
Both local and international schoolteachers are invited to join us for our first-ever teachers’ workshop. Come learn about the jungles of Mexico and take a Tropical Forest Curriculum back to your school. This will be a bilingual workshop, in both Spanish and English. Meet us at 1:30 pm.
Saturday, August 13 - Fund-Raising Workshop
Great gardens need constant care. Learn how you can help us find financial support. Please bring your laptop and a list of names and addresses of friends who might be interested in funding a project here at the Gardens. Meet us at 1:30 pm.
