Banderas Bay is fortunate to have this popular company returning performing this holiday favorite. The performance will feature 30 dancers set among lavish sets with costumes weighing in total more than 2 tons.
The Nutcracker is a two-act ballet by Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky. Tchaikovsky's adaptation of the story "The Nutcracker and the Mouse King" by E. T. A. Hoffmann was commissioned by the director of the Imperial Theatre’s Ivan Vsevolozhsky in 1891. The original production was staged on December 18, 1892.
In Western countries, The Nutcracker has become perhaps the most popular of all ballets, performed primarily during the Christmas season. In the United States, especially since the 1960s, it has transcended its origins as a mere ballet or piece of classical music, becoming a part of American tradition. Now we can enjoy this holiday treat right here in the tropics!
For years, locals have been yearning for a state-of-the-art performance space that could handle world-class touring productions. With the announcement of The Russian State Ballet "Mari El," expats, local nationals and visitors alike can now enjoy top productions without having to travel. Come support the arts in Banderas Bay and purchase your tickets today to The Russian State Ballet "Mari El."
